Motorola will let buyers choose back panel covers colour and engrave a message on the back of the handset with Moto X Customization. The handset that will be completely assembled in the US is being called “the first smartphone you can design yourself.”
The smartphone will be running on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, which is currently the latest version of the operating system (not counting the leaked 4.3 build). The handset is currently being tested by carriers in the US, but the smartphone will also be available through a website.
According to leaks & speculation Moto X will not feature top of the line hardware, instead will compete with the mid-rangers in the market currently. It will have a Qualcomm MSM8960 Pro dual-core processor, clocked at 1.7GHz. This may not be able to go toe-to-toe with the quad-core CPUs of flagships today, but we are hoping there’s some killer optimisation to make software run smoothly.
The leaks also mention that the device will have a 720p display, but there’s no mention of the screen size. The X phone will have a 10 megapixel camera on the back, which will be accompanied by a 2 megapixel shooter on the front. In addition, the phone is said to be carrying 2GB of RAM and internal storage is expected to be 16GB, with no mention of a possible microSD card slot.
